Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in power within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the party access places they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
