Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first trophy for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court since that period of 2023.

The win also means Medvedev has secured 21 championships at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused some to question if his capacity to compete at the highest level was over.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

He rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a shot at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
