Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Police state they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis show the liquid was likely human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its source; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.
A high-ranking representative said the incident rendered him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, mentioning the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
